Field Technician

We are looking to expand our team! Dehumidified Air Solutions is home to the industry’s most respected HVAC dehumidification brands: Dectron, PoolPak, Seresco Dehumidifiers, Agronomic IQ and Dehumidified Air Services. These brands create optimal indoor air quality (IAQ) conditions through temperature and humidity control. We are seeking a Field Technician for Massachusetts/Connecticut.

Position Summary

The HVAC Field Service Technician will be the company’s expert in‐charge on the jobsite, responsible for performing start‐up/repair work/preventative maintenance on world-class indoor HVAC equipment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Technical Duties:

  • Validate/update the end user contact information on file upon arrival at the jobsite
  • Conduct on‐site equipment start-up/repair work/preventative maintenance
  • Inspect the equipment and make minor changes as required
  • Prepare start‐up report form for submission to the manufacturer, external sales representative company, and the installing contractor
  • Collect equipment operational and site data, photograph the installation site and equipment, and document them using a collaborative mobile application provided by the company
  • Provide operational training to the on‐site maintenance personnel
  • Work as Inside Support Technician via home office approximately 25% of the time
  • Provide remote troubleshooting service on the equipment during non‐site hours, when required
  • Communicate and seek support from Service Managers to obtain technical advice and resolve challenges on jobsite
Non-Technical Duties
 
  • Demonstrate a professional attitude while keeping the company’s interests in mind
  • Document risks and issues proactively from jobsite and expedite resolution to mitigate warranty and repair work either independently or by coordinating with the Service Manager
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders on the jobsite (end user, engineers, installing contractors, etc.)
  • Obtain end user feedback on the customer service experience upon assignment completion
  • Participate in monthly review meetings and provide feedback from the field for continuous improvement

Education and Experience Qualifications

  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Diploma or HVAC/R Technology Diploma or Building Systems Engineering Diploma is required
  • Min. 2 yrs. of HVAC and Control Systems experience or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

Required Skills

  • Must have a valid Air Conditioning & Refrigerant recovery certificate/license- EPA608 (U.S)
  • Gas certificate/license will be preferred, but not necessary
  • Must have broad spectrum of knowledge in commercial HVAC, energy recovery, and heat transfer products
  • Demonstrated skills in electrical and controls will be preferred
  • Must enjoy working with electro‐mechanical components and controls
  • Ability to use basic hand tools
  • Ability to accept assignments on notice as short as 1‐2 weeks and work within strict deadlines
  • Can innovate solutions to problems and present feasible alternatives in the face of obstacles
  • Knowledge of computer applications: Microsoft Office 365 and Internet
  • Has excellent communication skills-both written, verbal, and presenting to senior leadership
  • Demonstrates the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team locally and remotely
  • OSHA10-30 preferred, but not necessary
  • Ability to regularly sit, stand, use hands to touch, feel, or transport documents and/or products
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Ability to work in all seasons and all weather (possibility of working indoors or outdoors)
