Production Planner — Ottawa

Status: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Ottawa (South-East)

Job Description: Reporting to the Material Manager, the successful candidate will be able to multitask and meet short deadlines in a changing environment.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Interface with product engineering to improve the day to day manufacturing requirements. This includes but not limited to accurate BOM for all jobs, validating the pick process for correct revisions and part supply, coordinating special requirements applied to a specific build, Test validation based on customer requirements, etc.
  • Assist in developing standard rates based on job hours, cycle time vs. takt time, labour hours, material content by job, etc.
  • Implement plans to improve thru put driving OEE performance
  • Work with employees to offer better practices as well as listen to day to day opportunities that they can offer
  • Validate part engineering specifications to optimize best products for the lowest cost
  • Assist in developing standard cost model by unit, lane and operation
  • Work with Quality Assurance Specialist on optimizing standard operating procedures
  • Develop industry standard ergonomic practices to enhance safety in the workplace
  • Develop paper free SOP policy similar to a Flex or Andon system

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferred) or equivalent;
  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar role;
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel;
  • Critical thinking, Continuous Improvement oriented;
  • Team player, leadership;
  • Effective communication.
